Summer storms, heat -- even downed trees -- have been been causing outages in recent weeks, but OPPD crews have been dealing with them as they arise.
For example, this morning a tree knocked down a primary line near West and Walnut streets in the town of Herman. Crews restored the power, but only after the downed tree caused a circuit lockout that affected 1,002 customers. The impacted area was bound on the north by County Road W, south by County Road N, east by County Road 8 and west by County road 20.
Over last weekend, our crews kept busy between the high heat and storms that pounded the area Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Most of the heat-related outages were bad transformers and cable failures, which crews repaired. The storms caused minor damage that the crews also repaired.
