File away for Mother's Day

Communiblogger Trevor Cook posted this first, and then Lee Hopkins did too.

I wouldn't have bothered to post it if the damned thing somehow didn't fill my eyes with tears.

This right here is one of the things keeping the world from just unraveling completely.

Kristen:

I LOVE this! I got it from a friend awhile back and posted it in the Funny Pages at MyRagan after I emailed it to everyone I know.

This is one of the best clips ever, whether you are a Mother, have a Mother, or even just know a Mother!

To me it's also about communication: The repetitiveness, the universality, the day-after-day-and-over-and-overness of it.

Any CEO who objects to a repeated message because "we already said that" should see this. Over and over again.

I laughed my butt off when I first saw this a few weeks ago. I had to post it on my blog immediately, of course, saying what Kristen did - "You must watch this if you're a mom ... or if you have a mom ... or if you know a mom."

My smart aleck husband's response? "I was going to make the Dad's version of this, but all I can think of is 'Ask your mother' and 'Don't tell mom I let you.'"

As a single dad, let me just say that we say these things too. Andrea, maybe you can tell your smart-aleck husband that some of us guys can actually relate.

Oops, just want to my husband was definitely just being funny. He doesn't say "go ask your mother" any more than I say "go ask your father." (Which, um, can be kind of a lot on some days.) He told me he doesn't quite relate to the video as much as I do, but I will say that he's a great dad and husband and does his fair share of child care/house work (i.e. about half). Just want to make sure he gets credit. LOL.

Greg Marsh:

This is just wonderful! And yes, I've said many of these things myself to my three boys -- and will say them many more times, I'm sure!
