I'm going to write about what I think is an interesting online project because, well, as a partial owner of this blog, I can write about what I want.
At Colgate we just posted an online map that shows where more than 200 members of the Class of 2007 are going after graduation and what they'll be doing, whether it's a job, grad school, or fellowship.
Our web designer David Terrazas created a database and built a brief web form that we publicized through our internal university portal, e-mail distributions, word-of-mouth among senior leaders, and the old standby: fliers.
Students filled out their post-graduate information and could upload a photo, use an image from their campus ID card, or not use a photo at all. The communications office interviewed nine students, and Ray Nardelli of ITS produced two-minute videos that we hope reflect the varied academic disciplines and experiences that Colgate offers.
Our career services office will be using the information we've collected for their record-keeping, and they're excited about what has been already gathered.
It's all about outcomes, and this project helps demonstrate the options students will have after leaving our liberal arts institution.
Any other year-end efforts out there that we can spotlight?
