On the set

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in posting. I've been "on the set" here at Colgate as we work to bolster our virtual tour with several videos. It's been a great process but very difficult work. Condensing your message, whether it's that of a higher ed institution or a company, into two-minute slices is not easy.

Several members of the communications office, our digital media director from ITS, and an assistant dean from our admission office held several meetings to talk things through and to refine our key messages.

The "guides" in the video tours are students currently working for the admission office as summer tour guides. What an incredible group. We vetted ideas for the videos with them and their feedback was critical.

It's always a fine line between "cheesy" and "clever," and today's students have a strong radar for what doesn't come across as real. I think we've struck a good balance between letting their personalities shine through while they talk about places and programs on campus we want to emphasize.

We'll be working on the edits in the coming weeks, and I'll be sure to share a couple.
