Professional tree (mentoring): Help out that intern making your coffee.

Media influence: Make friends with reporters.

Political influence: Get involved.

Client/company profile: Be more visible.

Public service: Volunteer.

Anyone on the list that shouldn't be?

Yes, there's someone on the list who shouldn't be there: Mark Penn. Why should the ethically challenged be rewarded with such an honor?
