When old newspaper guys meet young new media guys

Ever wonder how those old timers in the newspaper business get along at new media companies? Here’s a short video depicting it:

Thanks @word_czar for the find.

Not kidding. My 83-year old mother lives on the computer. Because she's a little hard of hearing, email has replaced the phone, and the Internet has given her access to so much. She loves it.

TJ:

This is very funny, particularly for those of us who had to learn about agate type and pica font sizes in journalism class. And I'm not thaaat old. What makes it so funny is there is a certain truth in the humor. My friends who have spent their careers in newspapers - some long and some not so long - will have a difficult time making the transition, but not because of the technology. Mostly because of the decision-making dynamics. Web 2.0 leave much more to the discretion of the individual "reporter" leading to discrepancies in quality, but much more creativity and innovative thinking. This will take some getting used to for those newly empowered reporters used to spending most of their free time griping about their management.

Cheryl Howard:

ROFL! Ironically, the folks watching this are the ones who have no idea about running the ink, newsboys, or even the humor in the smoke-filled room. My parents rarely use the computer.
