Phew. This guy is really upset about his guitar.
I'm sure you haven't forgotten about Dave Carroll, the Canadian musician who turned his year-long struggle with United Airlines over their alleged breaking of his guitar into a YouTube sensation called, "United Breaks Guitars."
Well, he's back with a second song. Ahem. Fifteen minutes of fame. Cough, cough. Over. Ahem.
Oh, sorry, must've been something in my throat. Here's the video.

May you have enough happiness to make your sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, eno...

Ryan has unmasked me. I'm a secret agent, working for United. The charade has gone on long enough. I can no longer lead this double life.
Now that I have removed United's shackles from my ankles I can openly declare: I love this song! It doesn't grate on my ears and annoy me that yet another marginally-talented performer is getting famous for little more than a gimmick.
And yes, before anyone even mentions it, I do hope he lands his own reality show. His memoir, well, that I can't wait for. When he begins appearing on Fox News and MSNBC as an expert on business travel I'll toast the occasion with my closest friends and family, telling everyone that I hope 50 years from now we'll continue gathering before our computers and television sets to watch Dave Carroll lampoon United for its poor customer service.
What a dream.

I'm calling sour grapes. Is the author of this article a United PR flak? Carroll clearly stated he had a second song in the works, before media attention (deservedly) rained down upon him. He also was nicer to United than he needed to be once the cameras were focused on him.
And who in the entertainment industry doesn't capitalize on their current fame? It's a clever song that resonated with me, a longtime business traveler who was stuck flying United for 9 years because they dominated my local airport. I hope he delivers a whole album about United's problems, maybe that will open their eyes to the pit of despair that is their level of service.

Try flying with a cello. Either buy it a seat (and double the cost of flying) or trust it to the gorillas.
Note, the cello is not allowed to bring a carry-on, doesn't get a serving of crackers or water, has never once used the toilet or a blanket or pillow, and weighs a HECK of a lot less than a person and the person's luggage, but the cello still must pay the full fare. No wonder the airlines make checked-baggage too dangerous to trust.

As a guitar player who has travelled with an instrument, I can relate. But I can top Dave's airline horror story. Soutwest Airlines destroyed my son's home dialysis machine, after promising to place it in a special area; TSA wouldn't allow it onboard because they thought it might contain something harmful. Do you think I should write a song?? Hmmm... what rhymes with "peritoneal"?

The poor guy had to check the guitar because the airlines won't let them into the cabin anymore. Used to be you could carry them on and stick them in the place for the hanging bags, but not anymore. Some musicians used to buy a seat for their instrument, but I dont' think the airlines and the safety police will let that happen either.
United needs to fess up and buy this guy a new guitar, apologize, buy a bunch of guitars for underpriviledged kids, and then maybe his next song will be a nice song about United.

Not sure which airlines you're flying but most don't let guitars on anymore. And if you have more than one and by some odd chance they do let you carry one on, where's the other one supposed to go? I really don't think anyone can judge how "real" a musician from the facts laid out before us. Way to blame the victim, Brian.

Agree with Brian. United needs to go overboard making nice with this guy. Just make him go away. Given his pattern, if they do, he's likely to do a kiss-and-make-up video, for what it's worth.

Well, I still maintain that real musicians never, ever, check their guitars.
That said, UAL is missing out on such a great opportunity to make nice with this guy.
I'd share the ideas here but I'm not about to give UAL anything for free!
This most recent video doesn't have quite the humor the first one did, in fact, it's starting to get a tad hateful especially the van driving over the guitar.
Dave is going overboard now, and UAL is simply asleep at the wheel.

I hope this guy hasn't been watching America's Got Talent - one of the acts uses a dozen guitars as flaming torches.

Obviously you are not a guitar player or ever had the most important possession in your life, which is essential for you to make a living, destroyed by a bunch of idiots who promised you it would be safe in their hands. So how could you understand how angry this might make you?
