Grover to address National Press Club

I bought my nearly two-year-old niece a stuffed Grover a few months ago and, according to her mom, it scares the sh** out of her (my niece, not her mom).

Grover, unlike Elmo, is apparently an acquired taste.

I wonder what the reaction will be December 8 when the iconic Sesame Street character visits the National Press Club for a talk about new media.

Yes, you read that correctly, Grover is speaking at the National Press Club. Gary E. Knell, president and CEO of Sesame Workshop, will share the stage with Grover.

Why is Sesame Street presenting at the National Press Club? Knell and Grover plan to discuss the way Sesame Street—after 40 years on TV—has reached beyond television sets to bring its entertainment to popular media platforms like cell phones and mobile gaming devices.

It actually sounds like an interesting talk. If I was in Washington on December 8 I’d probably attend. I just wouldn’t bring my niece.

Here’s a video of Grover disco dancing.
