‘Transparency’ tops the list of banned words for 2010

Lake Superior State University released its 35th annual “List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness.” A favorite buzzword from the corporate communications and social media worlds made the list — transparency.

Other words and phrases on the list are shovel-ready, czar, tweet, app and sexting.

I had two pages open and posted on the wrong page. While we are at it, let's ban Cooper Black Italic.

Sorry for the mistake. I'm multi-tasking. Let's ban that phrase too.

Lynetta:

I am Cooper Black Italic, yet I care about love handles. I'd rather be your font. The grass is always greener on the other side of the serif or sans-serif, I guess.

anonymous:

especially when it came to the health care bill being debated on C-SPAN and then the Speaker of the House coming out and saying that this legislation is the most transparent ever passed. Yes, please get rid of that word or determine a new definition.

Anonymous:

Can we also ban "shooting" an email?? I've hated that one for a while.

Mike Rivard:

Please add the phrase "Let me be clear". BHO favorite crutch. ENOUGH!!!

Anonymous:

What a great choice, particularly since those who claimed to be more transparent acted like they had the most to hide.
