Michael Arrington, the founder and co-editor of popular technology blog, TechCrunch, is known to throw public tantrums when a PR person annoys him.
For instance, Arrington slammed NBC Universal’s PR team in February when it accidentally sent a test e-mail message to dozens of media outlets, including TechCrunch, twice.
“I think I’m just going to give up now,” Arrington blogged. “There’s no shaming this industry into normal human behavior. I mean, who actually thinks it’s ok to e-mail an entire database with a test message?”
So it seems odd that a free Web-based application, called Pitch, is enticing people to sign-up by suggesting PR people use the app to pitch Arrington. Pitch provides a template for e-mail pitches. The application includes tracking software.
Here’s a screenshot from Pitch’s Web site.

Considering Arrington likes to publicly flog PR people, he seems like the kind of journalist you don’t want to encourage PR pros to hit with a template pitch.

Arrington will read your pitch when you pay him to do so.
