'It gets better' ladies: The 10 most sexist ads of yesteryear

Last week, PR Daily posted a story from Prosumer-Report confirming that--despite all their big strides in the workplace--women still earn an average of 20 percent less than their male counterparts.

Given such a statistic, it appears women everywhere are in need of their own 'It Gets Better' campaign--you know, kind of like the anti-bullying videos. To help launch the campaign, I put together this collection with 10 of the most sexist ads ripped straight from days of yore.

Why a collection of sexist ads?

Because each one of them is a demonstration that in time, it does get better.

1. Pretty sure dad always said, "And under no circumstance do you ever buy a woman something for the house."

2. For those who can't read the first line of copy, it says, "Women are soft and gentle, but they hit things." Guys, repeat those words and I promise you'll be the ones getting hit.

3. I'll give you some "PEP."

4. Now go cook me a potpie.

5. But still leave the pickle jar to the man, little darlin'.

6.Where does she store all the files?

7. "Ma--the meatloaf!"

8. So, are you floored, ladies?

9. I mean, at least give her a hand, guys.

10. Most girls I know would blow-up in your face.

And if you're into Chinese food, not far from the station is the Tse Yang - which is fantastic. I understand how the Germans must have felt about us, but I don't understand how they could just sit there all those years letting us defend them from the Russians (I used to be in the Intelligence Corps - and my German counterparts were less than useless) while they complained that we drove like maniacs and stole all the best women. Well, I didn't personally steal any women, but you know what i mean I think.

So yes, maybe it's gotten slightly better, but I don't think the attitudes inspiring these ads have matured much in 50 years.

Each year has 365 days , and wish you 365 beautiful dreams come true.

Love you and Support you forever~~~!

MRE:

Careful with your self-righteousness. Adverts today are filled with dim, soft, overweight balding men to be targeted with contempt. Advertisers are selling product -- not enlightenment.

Anonymous:

I've watched Mad Men and based only on that, you can tell who wrote these ads. Tied to the Axe Commercial, I've been hearing a bunch on the radio that makes light of male incompetencies. The campaign centers on, "We need them to get rid of spiders but they can be useful in other ways, too." Madison Avenue seems only happy portraying married men as lovable dunces these days.

Axe commercials prove this really hasn't gotten much better. I mean, we no longer suggesting outright you turn a woman into a rug, sure. But Axe's latest is about a scent that changes because women have short attention spans. The woman in the ad also seems too stupid to realize it's the same guy with every transformation. (And, no surprise, ladies, he's still a douche.) The point of this? Why, to get laid of course. Because that's what women are good for, right bro?

Ugh. So yes, maybe it's gotten slightly better, but I don't think the attitudes inspiring these ads have matured much in 50 years.
